Spring Footwear

April in New England is a rollercoaster of weather events. It can be sunny near 60 degrees one day. A couple days later it is cold enough to snow. If this isn’t a wardrobe challenge, I don’t know what it is!

Most of us have put away our boots and booties or at least very much want to and are struggling with what to put on our feet this season. It’s not quite warm enough for open toe shoes yet (although hopefully soon!) but we definitely want to get out of the winter boots. While a ballet flat or loafer is still in style sometimes it feels like we’d be better off having worn our wellies!

When it finally does dry up a bit, what’s on trend for Spring? Here find the latest shoe trends and a few links for inspiration!

Dolce Vita Mesh Flat (similar option linked)

Mesh Shoes:

The mesh shoe trend continues to grow in popularity with numerous brands jumping on board to add to their own take on this style. There is a mesh style that mirrors a traditional flat (ballet bow and all) while others look more like the jelly shoe trend we all loved in the 80s. Whether it’s a straw like fabric or a jelly cage design, these shoes can be worn dress up or down for almost any occasion.

Universal Thread Boat Shoe (Target)

Boat Shoes:

The traditional boat shoe is back (with a twist)! Sperry (the mother of all boat shoes) will tell you that their favorite model never really went away. But we now seeing this style in not only the traditional old school fabric but also in new colors and fabrics that are bringing new life to this trusty style.

Sam Edelman Terra Slingback

Slingbacks:

These shoes offer a nice transition from winter to summer that offer styles in a variety of heels from flat to block, kitten to stiletto! The slingback shoe is even available in a Mary Jane style. Due to the variety of styles available in this model they can be very versatile and easily take you from office to evening out.

J Slides Low Top Sneakers

Sneakers:

Extra Slim Soles are having a moment. These Adidas Tokyo Sneakers are one example of the trend that is found in a growing number of popular brands. This sneaker style comes in all the colors of the rainbow and even a variety of fabrics so finding one that fits your style personality won’t be a problem.

If you’re looking for something with a little more thickness, the Adidas Samba Sneaker is still very much in style this spring. Lots of colors and fabrics to choose from here too so it might be hard to buy just one pair!

No matter what your price point there are plenty of options available in the style that fits your needs best. With plenty of versatility you might be able to find a pair that compliments your jeans as well as it does your favorite dress. No need to keep it neutral for versatility. With shoes, a standout color or pattern can work just as well as a nude. Look for what catches your eye, what makes you smile… that’s the pair you want to purchase because that’s the pair you will gravitate toward every time you get dressed. Updating your wardrobe for spring can be as easy as a new pair of shoes!
