Fashion Trends for the New Year

Happy New Year All!

Before I jump into the expected trends of 2026, let’s do a quick inventory of what we have in our closet right now and what we have been wearing this fall into winter. Chocolate brown has taken over as the color of choice. For that matter, all shades of brown are popping out of my wardrobe but be sure that the chocolate brown trend will continue to be popular into 2026. Corduroy and suede were big textures coming into the new year and I expect this to continue as well. The barrel style of pants also quickly became a hit, particularly in denim. Trends that we have begun to see fade include light wash denim, the popularity of burgundy as a color of choice and skinny style pants.

An on-trend accessory is an easy way to update your outfit. These suede boots and bag pair easily with other wardrobe staples. These white corduroys add texture to your outfit while keeping it updated and fresh.

Looking ahead to Spring 2026, which is just around the corner, fashion is trending towards vibrant colors, lots of layers and chunky jewelry. Spring is expected to bring pops of color, polka dots and dark denim. Capri blue is a standout color this spring. Popular 80’s trends are taking center stage including chunky jewelry and tailored styles. There appears to also be a 1920s vibe in the appearance of more fluid pieces, lots of beads and dropped waistlines.

These bright blue pieces purchased last fall will easily transition into 2026 while keeping my outfit on-trend.

As always, don’t drop everything to seek out these new style trends. The key is to shop smart and figure out how to incorporate elements of these latest style trends into your current wardrobe. We’re not looking to swap out what we have. We want to transition. That’s a softer more graceful movement into what’s new and on trend. Maybe keep your chocolate browns and pair them with a new capri blue piece. Add your chunky jewelry to your current favorite outfit. Make the new trends work for you and find what you love.
